Please don't flame if you love/hate Metallica.
Please, for the love of god, don't start the "Metallica V.S. Megadeth" argument. Anyone who has already picked a side won't ever change their mind. o.o

Anyways, I just wanted to see what everything thinks of Death Magnetic. It's been a while since it's been released, but it's still a bit of a hot issue for a lot of rock/metal fans(at least, where I live).

So what do you think? Do you think it's comparable to their earlier works like "...And justice for all"? Do you dislike/like it? If so, why?

Personally, I'm a bit down the middle on it. Aside from the vocals and lyrics on the album(which I thought were terrible) it's not bad, even if it isn't as good as what they were coming up with in the 80s. Not that I'm a raging old-school metallica fan or anything, but I don't think anyone can honestly try to say it's better than Ride the Lightning, or even the black album.

But that's just my opinion, I want to hear yours.

Its pretty decent. Big improvement from everything past Black Album imo; Reload, St.Anger etc. just sucked. I like quite a few of the songs off Death Magnetic, I wasn't really disappointed with it. Though I can say that everything thing Black Album and post-Black Album was their best stuff; again, imo.

I flame everyone on this topic for accepting this album into existance. It's not a bad album, it's just that every track on it could be replaced by a track from another Metallica album and you'd get basically the same album, but much better.

When I first heard All Nightmare Long; I thought someone had listened to Enter Sandman and decided to rip the intro off and make it a little more "Grr".

It was ok, it's just they will never be the same as when the came out with Kill 'Em All. Now they're basically Alternica.

It was better than St.Anger and some of their more recent stuff, but to me it was just so-so. Like someone else said, their original stuff from the eighties is the best, in my opinion. "Ride The Lightning" was my favorite.

Metallica would be x10 better if they did screaming tbh.

Solid metal album, but very badly produced. They really ****ed up on the loudness war ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudness_war ) and it makes it sound rediculous. The rock band masters sound better.

It was alright. I look at it similarly to how I look at the Black Album, some tracks I really like, and others I don't care for. Overall I'd probably give it a 3.5/5.

Meh, I didn't like it but I don't hate it.
After the black album nothing else mattered.

I like it, it's very different from St. Anger and a lot more clearer than their earlier works. There is other, better bands out their though, in my own honest opinion. 7.5/10
