Hm. Perhaps the new Blue-Eyes card will be like Red-Eyes Wyvern...? Or...well, they did make a Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon. Blue-Eyes had Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon as a counterpart, and I suppose you could count White Night Dragon as the counterpart to Red-Eyes Metal Dragon (the OCG name for White Night Dragon was "Blue Ice White Nights Dragon". Given the stats as well, it makes sense...)

Perhaps they'll make a counterpart to REDMD? Blue-Ice Shining Dragon or something along that line...?

Well, not really, Heavy Storm is a game breaking card, so is Mirror Force and Torrential Tribute. The belief of the people at Konami is that because everyone uses it, it's not game breaking, because there's equal odds for both players. The thing is, if Pot of Greed, or Graceful Charity, or Ring of Destruction, etc. were unbanned, there would be no problem for either player, because everyone would run them. I play against my friends in trad sometimes, and other kids from my school, and they play trad, and I've never seen anyone, even the people that play advanced, complain about it.

My point exactly. Haven't you ever seen yugioh episodes? Pot of Greed is a comeback card. So, why is Mirror Force at one while Greed is banned, wouldn't it make much more sense to move all the cards in the banned list to the limited list, like trad, because if you think about it, all the banned cards are comeback cards, and they'd be just fine at limited, while having some amazing cards banned and some at limited just doesn't make sense.

Don't get your hopes up it's gonna either be so powerful that it'll be banned a week after the pack comes out, or be so bad that they'll make a new card limit for it personally, so you can run 20 of them in a deck, and people still won't use it.

IMO, Begining is just a crappier version of CED-EOTE. And I say, to hell with the ban list. Everything should be limited or semi limited. Banning cards is just stupid, it completely kills decks. I mean, why make a card, just to ban it and piss off people who used the card *coughpotofgreedcough*

Let me put it this way: If all cards were legal in tournament use, It would be overrun with Chaos decks since EVERYONE could run BLS and CED. The archetyes like LS, BW, GB, etc would be rare and strategy would be booted out the door.

Cause everyone would use the same deck/cards/strats, and the game would be uber boring from lack of originality. Some cards are made, then later realized to be too powerful (like DSF).

Well not really, you could still run whatever you wanted to, and my guess is some people would still run their same decks. I run heroes. Even if all the cards in the ban list were removed from the list, I would still use heroes, but add stuff like Pot of Greed and Graceful Charity. In fact, I do use them right now, with my friends, and in locals, I just take them out for other cards. Anyone who runs a Chaos deck, in my opinion, has no skill. Same with Lightsworns or GBs.

To put it bluntly, the original anime gave us cheating, by Yugi summoning Dark Magician without sacrifices, etc. Yugioh GX gave us strategy, with Heroes, Crystal Beasts, Cybers, and a whole lot of fusions (the GX decks are the best imo). And finally, 5Ds just rap*d strategy completely and gave us crappy metas that make you a monkey holding cards while the cards pull of combos by themselves.

Gladiator Beasts, in the beginning, was actually rather hard to play with and actually took a little bit more to play them, and actually, that still holds true, unless you're relying solely on gyzarus which, in itself isn't that bad of a card but it's just that people bring out other things along with Gyzarus that help them out....

Now, to the problem at hand, The fact of the matter is, if everyone played Traditional then yeah, the game WILL get boring because people will end up flocking to the old powerhouse decks that is guaranteed to win games( as with right now) and that wouldn't be every fun for the people who like to play the less known, more original decks(like, well like you jaden) plus if that were to continue then people would end up grow tired of the game and would eventually stop buying packs, which would hurt Konami....very little actually since the game isn't their main source of income.

Now, what Nottu said is true, there would be more original decks if the ones that were already at the top were knocked down, which would mean that the themes that people didn't want to acknowledge could have their time to shine, which is good and...rather healthy for the game.

To be honest, I've only seen Yugioh up to the end of the tourney when Yugi beat Marik's Ra. And then after that I saw the battle between Atem and Yugi. 5ds, I saw the first 30 episodes, then I was like "That's it, this one's crap." The only one I've wanted to watch to the end was GX, because I actually liked the cards and the storyline in it, and I haven't even seen all of GX (but I'm almost there).

And with GB's, they do take more skill than LS, or Zombie, or w/e, but as Konami comes up with more cards, they get less and less strategy involved.

As for knocking down metas to make original decks, that won't work because Konami always comes up with more metas to keep the larger, less faithful population of players (the ones who only care about winning, and will sell their soul to get cards from the next meta) interested.

I guess you're right about the traditional format though, most people did run Chaos decks until CED-EOTE was banned.

And yea, Sin Blue Eyes would be terrible.

I guess you could say it took Yubel turning him evil to knock any sense into him towards the end of the series and basically to me most of his friends made for more interesting characters then him!(Cyrus Chumley and Chazz were horrible though! >.< )

Also, did anyone notice that the 2nd XYZ artwork is from Starter Kaiba 2. I mean, how come Jap. decks get all the good cards? We never got XYZ in a Kaiba deck, all we got was crappy Kaiser Sea Horse, and a lame looking artwork of BEWD.

Oh and Jester I wouldn't be surprised if they reprinted Cost Down for the Kaiba pack! I'd cross my fingers about the other 2 cards you mentioned because I'm not even sure if they're in the OCG! But then Konami has surprised me several times by making cards that only originally appeared in the manga or anime into real cards for the OCG and TCG b4 so it's still anybodys guess what all is in this pack! At least I can give a guarantee that the new Blue-Eyes White Dragon effect card will have new artwork! All the previous alternate artwork cards of Blue-Eyes have been pretty good in my opinion and I don't think this one will be any less good! Time will tell though!

So you're saying that just because they put Crush Card Virus in Turbo Pack 1 after it was banned was for a reason? Or when Monster Reborn was put in DP - Yugi, only for it to be banned a little bit after that was for a reason?

Secondly, if you think that Raigeki and Harpie's Feather Duster are the two most broken cards in the game, then there's a problem. You must've forgotten about Pot of Greed, Graceful Charity, Imperial Order, Dark Magician of Chaos, Dimension Fusion, Delinquent Duo, Confiscation, Cyber-Stein, or Magical Scientist. At least two of those cards are better than what you mentioned.

raigeki and harpies feather duster are two cards that have no cost to you as the player at all but to the opponet changes everything. some of the other cards you mentioned do have cost to you in some way no matter how small or slight they are the cost for them they are. for example pot greed say draw two cards yes, the risk u take in drawing two is there is no grantee that u draw the cards u need or just dead cards it cost u as a player to take a chance. then some of the other cards mentioned you pay life points for the there cost to u in paying life and needing certain cards around them to be effective. aot cards on the banned list depend on each a little in deck each work in deck to kinda set each other up for the next or some needed support from other cards not banned to make them as powerful as they are in decks around them. adding that you need skill also play some cards mentioned on the banned, where raigeki and harpies feather duster take no skill at all to play them they do one thing and thats it. if it goes through plus for u and if it get negate tough luck good try no harm done to u. i started playing this game since it first came to the states, so i have picked up most of the cards in the game, as well see and played in some of the hell era of yugioh in the time of chaos and victory dragon. i can honestly says that the banned list sure did away with one era of cards and ushered in a new era of playing yugioh. i have built and played chaos decks in there truest forms and variations of them so i can easy say most of the cards on the banned were staples in any chaos deck. so getting a treat of one banned card for format can be all that mad. maybe a time of wtf for some, but every deck needs some element of surprise or that one game shift. in all most cards on banned on only good as the cards u have round them, as for raigeki and harpies feather duster good if goes and no harm done if it does not ,u should have more cards in your deck to counter opponet any way( thats if your deck is built right,this is in no offence to anyone just saying in a general form)

1.) Pot of Greed, CED, The Ban List - These cards are all broken in some way. That's why they're banned. Even if it is because of some kind of combination, it's still broken.
2.) Most decks in YGO don't counter things.

Cards are banned because they win games/give too much advantage, OR are too easily abused. Saying CED is overpowered makes us suck? Wow, I didn't know an easily-special summoned monster that can blow up everything AND burn a lot can be easily played around. =_= If certain cards were unbanned, EVERYONE would be using them because they are what win games; get that through your mind. The game wouldn't be fun if everyone used a Chaos Deck w/ CED, BLS-EotB, Pot of Greed, blah blah blah.

How does having a list make duelist with less money have a chance? Back then, those broke cards were hard to get and only the people who HAD the money and resources could get them. It makes your logic flawed.

The only reason we have a list is so other less fortunate duelists be able to play. Also, the game would become dull if everyone could play the same thing. Fact: my friends and I always played Traditional, we all soon became bored with the game since we pretty much stuck with the same cards in our decks. Overpowering creatures, spells, and traps would make the game flawed, dull, and boring to the point of mass rage quitting.

I've been to local tournaments and no, not everyone runs the same deck. You'll see some similar decks such as BWs but they'll run differently or focus on something different. During the time when there was no list, everyone ran Chaos since it was an easy deck to make and it was overpowering.

And FYI, I started back in 2003. I, too, am an old fossil of this game.

Well I, for one, don't care about the lists. If they ban a card I love, I just make do with what I'm allowed to. If there was no ban list, then the same "boring" meta decks everyone plays would be way worse and the game would only be about the luck of the draw more than the skill. People use and abuse some effects, so naturally, the powers at be make us try out new cards.

On topic, which of the cards do we know of that have alternate art? I already have most of those cards, but it would be sweet to have alternate Vorse Raider and XYZ!

i agree the list are need. hey u have to emit that the list did out with one era and ushered a in a new one. the banned cards work good together and overpower mostly everything. but having a treat of one a format can not be that mad it only 6 months just make due.

beside they gave monster reborn for a format. the only cards that should stay and not move off the list is raigeki, harpies feather duster, and victory dragon there just to overpower with all pluses

To be honest, I've only seen Yugioh up to the end of the tourney when Yugi beat Marik's Ra. And then after that I saw the battle between Atem and Yugi. 5ds, I saw the first 30 episodes, then I was like "That's it, this one's crap." The only one I've wanted to watch to the end was GX, because I actually liked the cards and the storyline in it, and I haven't even seen all of GX (but I'm almost there).

And with GB's, they do take more skill than LS, or Zombie, or w/e, but as Konami comes up with more cards, they get less and less strategy involved.

As for knocking down metas to make original decks, that won't work because Konami always comes up with more metas to keep the larger, less faithful population of players (the ones who only care about winning, and will sell their soul to get cards from the next meta) interested.

I guess you're right about the traditional format though, most people did run Chaos decks until CED-EOTE was banned.

And yea, Sin Blue Eyes would be terrible.

all in all, GX was the best storyline, and best cards, before all the synchro crap that any deck could splash in..

Well in Japan there were 6 Duelist packs Yugi,Atem,Kaiba,Joey,Bandit Keith, and Marik!

Here in the states they combined Yugi and Atem's packs into one pack, and Kaiba had cards that he used in the anime added to his pack!

If Joey's pack did come to the states we would most likely see Rocket Warrior and Panther Warrior's alternate art cards printed for the 1st time in the TCG but I'm still skeptical wether this will happen or not!

Hell I'd laugh if we got Bandit Keith's pack and finally got Pendulum Machine and the alternate art Launcher Spider in english!

I don't get the allure of the Malefic monsters. To stay on the field they require a Field Spell card, and other monsters you control can't attack. That doesn't sound very amazing to me.
