The source isnt 100% sure if this is all true (ill keep you all posted, dont worry.) But, according to an article posted on Comicbookmovie.com, the following details have been "leaked" about the 3rd installment in the Batman series by Brent Sprecher. Thankfully, Christopher Nolan is still at the helm.
1. The plot should be outlined in time for the screenwriting to begin in February.
UPDATE 1: YES
Deadline Hollywood</STRONG> (February 2010) (http://www.deadline.com/hollywood/flashforward-showrunner-exits-for-features/#more-24745)
"Now FlashForward showrunner David Goyer has left with 5 episodes still to shoot. Of course, Goyer's feature career is really heating up, since he co-wrote Batman Begins, and penned the story for The Dark Knight, and is now writing the third Batman installment with Chris Nolan's brother Jonah."
2. The Riddler is the primary villain and he figures out Batman's identity.
3. Arkham Asylum will figure prominently in the story.
4. Several classic villains will cameo, including the Penguin and Mr. Freeze (though as Dr. Fries, not as the supervillain).
5. Barbara Gordon will have a featured role.
6. Commissioner Gordon will mention Metropolis and possibly Lex Luthor.
UPDATE 2: YES (LIKELY)
This news makes the likelihood of a Metropolis and/or Lex Luthor mention far more likely, if not certain:
Deadline Hollywood (February 2010) (http://www.deadline.com/hollywood/its-a-bird-its-a-plane-its-chris-nolan-hell-mentor-superman-3-0-while-preparing-3rd-batman/)
"Warner Bros is trying to ready its DC Comics stalwart Superman to soar again on the Big Screen, and the studio has turned to Chris Nolan to mentor development of the movie. Our insiders say that the brains behind rebooted Batman has been asked to play a "godfather" role and ensure The Man Of Steel gets off the ground after a 3 1/2-year hiatus... now [Chris Nolan's] brother and frequent collaborator Jonathan "Jonah" Nolan, and David Goyer who co-wrote and penned the story for The Dark Knight, are off scripting it."
7. Dick Grayson may be in the movie (though probably not as Robin).

Didn't Nolan say he wanted to stay as far from robin as possible? You can't out dick Grayson in and not have that be. But I am happy for
the 3rd. I am deffinatly a huge batman buff.

DC tie-ins = good.
Riddler = good.
I need no more.
I call this as fake seeing as the bottom of the poster has "Christian Bale "The Dark Knight" Heath Ledger" on it, but whatever. o.O

Jim Carey = Best Riddler ever. Whilst I'd love him to do the same again; they should obviously get someone else (Jonny Depp) to do it.

Nicholas Cage might even work going from a few scenes in Two-Face-Off.
Freeze in the fourth, with his story beginning at the end of this, or Freeze forming into Freeze in this one akin to Two-Face.
David Tennant, man. British Riddler would be mint.

First I know the poster is a fake. I mean I hope they actually use something like that as a teaser poster like they did with the Joker behind the tinted window writing "Why so Serious?"
Second and more importantly. If they do go with the Riddler figuring out Bruce Wayne is Batman. It needs to include the scene in Arkham from the end of the Hush story.
Riddler- "Who is Batman? And now the world is my oyster."
Batman- "What time is it when an elephant sits on your fence?"
Riddler- "Everyone knows that one. It's completely....!"
Batman- "Useless. That is why I have nothing to fear. I know you Mr. Nigma. A riddle every knows the answer to is useless. You'll never be able to give away my identity, it's your obsessive-compulsive nature that won't let you tell anyone."
Riddler gets angry and lunges at Batman who slams his head off the table and presses down on it. Enter guards and Batman's visit is over.

Sounds like a terrible idea, but if it happened I would probably cry with happiness. o.O
Liked that scene.
Lets face it, though. Riddler for new Batman film was pretty much what everyone was saying. Depp for Riddler was a big thing, too. DC crossover, and possibility of Freeze is about the only thing there that is 'new' and it's rumor.

I like where the possibility of a tie-in with Superman could lead.
The end of the Dark Knight left Batman as a villain in the publics eyes. Superman comes to Gotham to take down Batman who is still seen by the public as a menace.
Standard foes turned friends stuff that could work through the emergence of an enemy that neither could handle alone.
Trocios

That sounds like a decent crossover. Still not wanting any robins in this for another few movies.
DieNasty
February 18th, 2010, 10:45 PM
Yeah Robin needs to be way down the road.
No side kicks until they get Batman established and at the top of his game. At this point in the story he is still a "rookie" who is going to make mistakes. Nolan is really showing that at this point in his career Batman has actually made things worse. The third will probably be the begining of the turn around.

1. Christian Bale said he wouldn't play Batman ever if a Robin was in it. I wouldn't blame him. The only reason there ever was a Robin was because people back when the comics first started, said it was too dark and they needed to lighten it up with a young sidekick. Then in the 80's, people were okay with the gritty, dark style of our beloved Batman. I say NO Robin.
2. The Riddler would be awesome for a 3rd movie cause he is pretty much Batman's toughest enemy psychologically. And as we have seen in the last movie...Batman/Bruce Wayne is dealing with some pretty wild stuff in his head. Good plot-lines can come out of this.
3. Johnny Depp would be a sweet Riddler, but he's used so much for the crazy, creepy guy. A British Riddler would be kinda different but maybe in a really good way. Brits are kinda crazy lol

Dude robin was introduced in the 60's. Batman comics were pretty light hearted to read. And after the dick Grayson batman falling out, enter Jason Todd, who got beat to deTh by the joker with a crowbar, pretty dark if you ask me, then enter tim drake, who is a pretty bad ass robin as he matures.
Nolan said he wanted to stay away from robin but eventually it must be done if they keep doing movies. Just remember Nolan isn't as great as everyone thinks he is, he still trys to make dc do what he wants with their comics, like the death of batman.

Well that's true about Robin, but i mean in the very beginning. Jason Todd was way later. There was a ton of controversy over Batman in the very early years due to suggestions of homosexuality, eroticism, extreme violence, and the like which led to the lighter side of Batman like the TV show with Adam West, introduction of Bat-Mite, Ace the Bat Hound, and Bat Girl. But by the 80's, nobody cared and Batman was back to it's original, dark theme.

Adam West and Joel Schumaccher... Batman's greatest villians!
I like where the movies are headed, Robin at this point will undo all the good work Bale, Freeman, and Cain have done.
I want them to develop the Scarecrow more. He was always my favorite villian. Up until now Nolan has made him a little ***** character. They outta revamp his image and make him more like the Scarecrow who used psychology instead of his fear gas. They did a great story like this with the Scarecrow nearly killing Batman.

Robin has actually been around since Batman#1 in the late 30's! I doubt we'll see him in it!
Now for villians I'd wanna see:
Firefly(My love of arson compels me to want to see the bug flying on the screen! I mean if John Malcovich is going to be Vulture in Spider-Man 4 other spandex wearing heroes should have their flying villians in a movie also!)
Mad Hatter(Jervis Tetch with his obsession over the Alice in Wonderland books and mentally controlling people to do his biddings would certainly interest this little grinning chesire cat of a rodent!=D)
Harley Quinn(A blonde psycopath after my own heart!=D Anyone else wanna find out if she has an ace up her sleeves for the Bat? "Anything you say Mr. J!")
Bane(Ok who else thinks Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson could pull off being the Coloumbian drug running powerhouse that broke the Bat's back in the 90's? Just putting it out there!)
I'm sorry but tbh Joker,Catwoman,Penguin,Riddler, and Mr. Freeze have been done over over by so many formats! From the Adam West series to numerous animated forms to the Movies! It's time some of the other villians got their spotlight!
I mean even I would want to see the Riddler and even Poison Ivy be redone for the movies but look at the above characters I mentioned!
There's potential in these characters for some good action and so on and so forth if the right actors are picked, the script is good, and gets people in the seats with the sticky floors, and popcorn all over, and people on their cellphones, a couple making out pretty much close to make a soft core porn 2 rows behind you, kids screaming and kickin your seat, and some random idiot telling you your the noisy one and should shut up!!!!=o
God I love going to the movies!

Penguin and Dr. Fries are rumored to be mentioned in the 3rd installment, Packrat. As for who is going to play them, who knows.
As for the Mad Hatter/Riddler, gotta go to Depp for that role. I think hes got the knack for either one of those 2 characters. Bane for Dwane Johnson is, well, I dont know. Dwane isnt really the RAGER type. Hes known for his comedical side more then the serious side. I could see someone like Dave Batista playing him cause of his natural size, POWER!!!, and easy rage ability.

Here are some of my takes on villians and who should play them.
Mad Hatter/Jervis Tetch (Steve Buschemi)
I can see this particular bad guy being portrayed as a delusional petophile who is obsessed with Alice in Wonderland and goes around abducting young "Alice's" To give it a story element see Haunted Halloween.
Catwoman/Selina Kyle (Kate Beckinsale)
More of an anti-Batman. She does good deeds based around stopping muggers and rapists. She views her jewel thefts as "Payment" for her good deeds. Would definitly have her around as just Selina Kyle for at least two movies.
Ventriloquist & Scarface/Arnold Wesker (John Malcovich)
See Comics. Needs to be around for several movies so he can go through "Socko" and have Scarface come back and get into a shootout with Socko to show how looney he really is.
Black Mask/Roman Sinois (Dude who plays Lucious Malfoway in Harry Potter movies)
Crime Boss trying to fill the vacum left by Falcone and Maroni. Wares a mask for intimidation purposes.

There are also some other villans of the Batman universe that would be cool to see on the big screen.

The Great White Shark- Played by anyone on Wall Street =P.

I could see Clayface as a failed actor who uses clay mask putty to conceal his identity while he is murdering people.
Mr. Zsasz had a small cameo in the first movie.
Manbat was cured but I guess it mutated his DNA and he later could transform at will. I see Nolan staying as far away from him as possible though.
Another villian we've been missing is Dr. Hugo Strange.

Batman beats him and he becomes obsessed with returning the favor.

I like where that could head. They bring in the Riddler to take down Batman but he ends up being beaten and exposed as a "bad guy" (Corrupt Sherlock Holmes) so they call in the heavy guns and bring Superman over to take down Batman. Clear Batman of the events of the Dark Knight in that (4th) movie. Blockbuster of epic proportions.
Also want to see them begin working Tommy Elliot into the movies.

It's already happened a couple times.
SPOILER: Batman won
Yeah, but how's about a version where Superman w-never mind, that's not going to happen.
xP
I meant as a concept for a feature-length film, anyway.
The sequel could be "Batmans Vs Superman" xD

Batman doesn't lose.
He lost to Bane once.
And he still won.
Think about it

On IMDB, the Riddler is already listed as being the villain of the movie......but they have two people listed as possible choices for playing him. Go figure. Christopher Nolan said he was going to get started on the next Batman after his latest film, Inception, is released. He stated that he'd then start giving out some info, but it seems pretty well confirmed that the Riddler is going to be the next "main" villain. But there is almost certainly going to be at least one more, since Riddler needs someone to do the physical work and fighting for him. Nolan said during production for Dark Knight that he had no intention of using any characters like Mr. Freeze or Poison Ivy, since they were in his words "Too far out there". But with some reworking, Bane would be the most logical choice. If he was already someone with tremendous physical strength, who utilized body armor the same way Batman does and used some kind of supreme performance enhancing drug to boost himself, that wouldn't be too much of a stretch. But, time will tell. Nolan also has said he might end his Batman franchise with this movie, and that he might aim for an R rating this time around. We'll start getting good info after June or July....not too far off.

Bane and Riddler wouldn't really go well together. The thing everyone seems to miss with Bane is his intellect. Not only is he strong but he is a master strategist (See Knight Fall) who will formulate a plan. If you want to pair Riddler with some muscle pick a rogue that isn't that smart like a Killer Croc. With some re-working he is a very do-able character.

Riddler/Bane could be quite cool. I'd like to see Bane pop up with some incredibly line from Riddler.
"I have become the what of your existence?"
"Bane, that's easy."
"That may have been easy, but..."
*wall breaks. Batman on wrong side of room.*
Obviously better than that, but something to that effect.

Sorry...I failed to clarify that I definitely was not thinking of the Joel Screwup version of Bane. From all the version of Riddler that I have seen he's never displayed a liking for working with someone who wasn't at least clever, so Bane seems like a pretty good partner for him. And also, I wonder just how much "Mob" involvement there will be in the third film. Between Joker and Harvey, the Mob had been pretty much gutted...all the top leaders had been killed, and Joker toasted all their finances. It would be an interesting plot angle to have someone like Bane, Riddler, or Penguin making a move to take over the organized crime.

If they go with the mob it should be Black Mask.
