Why I loved it. Didn't care for anything from when she faught the Jabberwocky on, or Depps performance. But god damn, Burtons vision of the characters (Beyond the hatter) was amazing.

Can't wait to see this. Though, I've hated the hatter's look since they started advertising.

Good movie was good. I loved Helena Bonham Carter's performance as the Red Queen though.
Also, I <3 the Jabberwocky's VA.

i got dragged to the non-3d version. the entire time i could not help but think "wow i bet that part really looked great in 3d" or "wow those little things floating around the foreground? i bet they really pop out of the screen in 3d"
this was my first time going to see a 3d movie in non-3d since avatar. it made me pretty sad to be watching the nerfed version of the movie. if i am going to pay $10 to see it i now expect it to be an experience i cannot reproduce at home imo tbh imo
the movie itself was very much a blending of tim burton and lewis carrol. anything that was not beautiful burton or whimiscal carol instead looked like it had been drawn out of the recent lotr and narnia movies. the idea of non-combative characters going tino battle struck me as very narnian.
also a couple things about the ending:
i was half expecting some turnabout ending where the red queen ended up being the lesser of two evils when compared to the white queen. they mentioned that the white queen used death magic and hinted that she has some below the surface motives, it would have been interesting if she ended up being a deeper villan than the red queen
the "wtf lets go to hong kong!" ending was stupid. hong kong was founded by british traders/privateers/tea company/navy to be as close a foothold to china as possible. thus, if hong kong existed, it was by definition impossible to go to hong kong and be the first british there to do something. imo this was just a stupid space baby ending.

I was actually rather disappointed...it was a good movie, but it lack the true Tim Burton touch of his past films. Disney obviously put a pretty tight leash on him, otherwise I think some of the characters would have been far creepier, and the plot a little less straightforward. And I would have loved it if the Jabberwocky had been given more to say....Christopher Lee was a perfect choice for voicing it.
