Well, if they do decide to scrap 5Ds, it had a good run, one of the better series as a whole. As for new ideas of how to play card games...

In 5D's, you needed a license to Turbo Duel (at least for the D-Wheel). This new kid looks way too young to drive obviously. So unless they plan on doing that stupid skateboard crap all series long, I would assume we won't see too many lame turbo duels.

Lets see....We have another damn right handed character...with some sort of badass looking duel disc thingy on his left arm. He is also wearing a scouter. My thoughts are that the scouter counts LP and whatnot, while the wrist thingy is the field? Two deck boxes. Well...They could actually have given a spot for the extra deck on these characters for once...Wierd thought, but that box on his belt looks smaller then the other one. Maybe some new sort of a card type? That necklace he is wearing appears under the title of the show. Reincarnation of Melenium objects? Girl's not a duelist. Blue haired guy is one though. Yuma is wearing a thing on his right wrist, possibly meant for duels or just bad fashion.

Looking at this picture, we get another view of the duel disc. The deck compartment has a wierd zone, and his deck is like...a hundred cards (Unless he uses sleeves O.o.

I feel that that little belt buckle deck holster may contain his "Excess Monsters". How I see it, you put the two materials under the monster. The summoning is apperently called an "Exceed Summon"

Yugioh wikia has minor info on the mechanic. But we know of one excess monster so far (or, the wikia does)

Well, Fusions weren't that big in the original, i was more effect Monsters than anything. I imagine that Synchros will take a back seat, like Fusions did in 5Ds. They'll still be there, but they won't be the main focus...

5ds is actually good if you just give it a chance. Just dont watch the dub. Subtitles or not at all.

Synchros will be on the side, just like Fusion were in 5Ds (All I can remember Fusion-wise in the Anime was Centaur Mina and Dragon Knight Draco Equiste). Excess monsters will be in favor, as they are "the new guys"

I never took any formal lessons in Japanese, but Yugioh is pretty easy to understand, since it's a kids' show, with relatively basic vocabulary, and about half of the dialogue is game terminology.

Honestly, I think they should stop and give the anime a rest for a while. It's eventually gonna get to the point where:

A) They're going to run out of original ideas for it.

B) They will sooner or later switch to a new art style that will not be as visually appealing.

If they don't slow down, Zexal just might end up a yu-gi-oh version of Beyblade Metal Fusion (which in my opinion is the worst in the beyblade series).

It looks like it's going to be a cross between GX and 5Ds, GX was ok, 5Ds was quite good once I got into it, the turbo duels were a big downside to it but I quite enjoyed 5Ds mainly because of how good Yusei was. Zexal's characters look young, which is probably a good idea for attracting the younger generation into yugioh, as for the older generation, hopefully it wont be too young.
I'm glad to hear about Zexal though, when I heard GX was going to be the last but then 5Ds was eventually made, I thought yugioh would die once 5Ds had finished, with Zexal it keeps the game alive and yep, more cards!
Exceed Summon looks interesting, the fact that it uses Exceed Monsters from the Deck not the Extra Deck means it wont flood the game like Synchros have because of the main deck card limit. I hope Synchros are still used a lot but that they take a back seat, maybe one character could have their deck based on them. It would be nice to see more Ritual Monsters as they never really went anywhere, new Ritual Monsters and maybe Ritual Spells that have more effects than just Ritual Summoning alone.

Wikia doesn't have exact details yet, but by the looks of it you'll be able to summon Excess Monsters from the Extra Deck by Overlaying 2 generic monsters of the same level. ><

I think you have to draw it from the deck then Excess summon, it would be too powerful otherwise unless you were limited to 3 excess monsters or something as you don't need tuners.

I may be a huge fan of GX, and I appreciate 5Ds even if I never personally got into it, but I hate what I've seen of Zexal so far. It just looks like my least favorite parts of all the shows combined. Plus it makes me even more afraid that my precious heroes will die, but that part is just me being greedy
