Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon [レッドアイズ・ダークネスメタルドラゴン]
DARK/Dragon - Effect/10/2800/2400

You can remove from play 1 Dragon Type monster you control to Special Summon this card. Once per turn, you can Special Summon 1 Dragon-Type monster, except Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, from your hand or Graveyard.</div>

Power to the Dragons!
I absolutely love this card for many reasons. It's a Dragon. It's made of metal. It looks cool. It helps one of my favourite deck types in the game, and to top it all of, it's a Red-Eyes monster! I challenge anybody to say that they don't like at least one of those reasons. The art for REDMD is good, but not perfect. I hate it when the background has nothing whatsoever to do with the card itself. It just makes it look cartoony...although that still doesn't dampen the stylish and sleak metal sheen of REDMD.

This monster has recently been released in the TCG as a Shonen Jump Magazine promo (which, alongside Dandylion, shot off the shelves), and was released a few months ago in the OCG. This card has the highest level amongst the Red-Eyes series, and is joint 1st in terms of attack and defence power. (I hate it when YGO Wikia has no good trivia T____T, it makes this section really short...what's that...you don't care?! Why I oughta...)

Better. Faster. Harder. Stronger.
Not necessarily in that order xD...you didn't expect me to see the film did you? It's like a million years old .__.

Like the sub heading suggests, this card is the strongest in the Red-Eyes series, and it's the most easy to summon. Unlike Red-Eyes Metal Dragon, this incarnation of Red-Eyes does not require that Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon be equipped with Metalmorph or anything to Special Summon it, although in the anime it did. This card simply requires that you remove from play one Dragon monster to Special Summon it. It also isn't restricted in it's summoning conditions, unlike the big dragons in the game today. You can Normal Summon it, Special Summon it with D.D.R or Monster Reborn, you can basically do anything with it! Except stick it in a toaster. That's just stupid.

Due to it's effect, this card has, in my eyes, become one of the best Dragon types in the game, standing next to Judgment Dragon, Dark Armed Dragon and Stardust Dragon. Bet you didn't realise how many good Dragons in the game there were ;D. Simply with it's effect you're instantly gaining a +1. No matter what the Dragon is, as long as it's not a Nomi or has specific summoning conditions, you can put it on the field. If you're going for the simple approach that's gaining a net advantage of 0, because your in essence replacing the monster you removed from play with the one your summoning by it's effect. But then you still have your Normal Summon left to use.

That's why this card created a whole new deck type that spread along Japan like wildfire, and is likely to become a strong Tier 2 choice in the metagame here. It has the weirdest name though >_>. Hopeless Dragon. I personally would have called it Avenging Dragon but whatever. The fact of the matter is, you can see the sheer power that this card has, turning a forgotten about type into a whole new strong deck. We haven't seen anything like that since DAD Return.

Flight of the Dragonries
This card is easy to summon and can provide massive advantage over a few turns, swarming the field with Dragon types, ready to make a OHKO at your opponent. You can utilise any Dragon support with this card as well. Return it to your hand with A Wingbeat of a Giant Dragon, and you can basically produce a Harpie's Feather Duster effect, and re-summon REDMD to swarm some more and attack without fear of Mirror Force or Torrential Tribute.

You can use this card with Red Eyes Wyvern and Foolish Burial. Have Red-Eyes Wyvern in your graveyard, then use Foolish Burial to send REDMD to your Graveyard. At the End Phase, as long as you haven't Normal Summoned or Set that turn, you can Special Summon REDMD by removing Wyvern from play. Alternatively you can use Future Fusion to send Wyvern, REDMD and 3 other dragons to the Grave for the summon of FGD. Then that turn you can summon REDMD through Wyvern's effect, and proceed to summon the big monsters you sent to the Grave, like Dark Horus for example.

There is a plethora (yay, fancy word of the day) of ways to summon REDMD and then proceed to swarm with big Dragon beatsticks.

Rawr ;3
In conclusion, REDMD is a great card. But no card on it's own is that great without support. That's why in Hopeless Dragon, you use useful Dragon type monsters like Blizzard Dragon to help you to disrupt the opponent, then summon REDMD for a big swarm of monsters. You could even use REDMD in a Blue Eyes deck to summon the three Dragons more effectively, and then hit with big beatsticks like Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon.

[Art] - 9/10 Could of had a better background, but REDMD still looks shmexy

[Playability] - 10/10 I realise that this doesn't work outside of Dragon decks, but that's like saying Judgment Dragon doesn't work outside of Lightsworn decks. Just because it's limited to Dragon decks doesn't mean it's not playable. It's an easy to summon card, that gains you massive advantage

[Fun] - 10/10 There is nothing better than whacking this out on the table and gaining two big beatsticks to beat your opponent around with. Who said attacks points don't mean anything anymore? ;3

[Overall] - 9.5/10

Great work, I love this card. The only downside is its level 10, i think it should be eight, but oh well.

I have waited for this card since Limited Edition Pack 11 came out in Japan. Now we need Victoria.

You should hit up Jin for his rather creative build using this guy. The card is quite versatile in certain decks when used right :P

You serious? This card took the OCG casual meta by storm. Dragon decks finally got a monster which can steadily pump out the otherwise too big dragons, which prompts me to think that those guys didn't even try looking up its effect... o.O;

Now all we need is wyvern and we have hopeless dragon. or is it already out?

I love how with this deck, you can summon a 2800 and a 3000 ATK monster so easily!
However, im worried its too easily defeated.
ATK points can still only go so far.

Art = lovely (standard for a red-eyes varient)
Ability = AWESOME (Special summoning itself and Creator ability for Dragons but without its cost, I LOVE IT)
Usability = Limited (to Dragon based decks, but there are several)

Unlike it's brother Red-Eye's (save for the Zombie one), it is not restricted to it's own archtype. This meaning that it can be spammed in any Dragon deck *cough* FGD *cough*. Great card, could have been stronger though (baring in mind it being a 10 star and though Metal, it has no relationship to Metalmorph). A good hint with this card, special summon the dragon tuners for great Dragon Synchros (Stardust *chime* :))
